About DevTools.day
DevTools.day is a free resource for web developers. We build browser-based developer tools and write in-depth technical articles about the frameworks, languages, and practices that matter in modern development.
Who's Behind This?
DevTools.day is built by Michael, a software engineer with 5+ years of experience building web applications with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, and AWS. After spending years switching between dozens of online tools for encoding, formatting, and debugging, I decided to build one place with all the tools I use daily β fast, free, and without the clutter.
Why We Built This
Most developer tool sites are bloated with ads, require sign-ups, or run your data through a server. DevTools.day is different:
- 100% client-side β Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
- No sign-up required β Open a tool and start using it immediately.
- Fast and minimal β No JavaScript frameworks for simple tools. Vanilla JS, instant load.
- Privacy-first β Your data stays on your machine. We don't log, store, or transmit anything.
Our Tools
We currently offer 17 free developer tools covering the most common needs:
- Formatters & Validators β JSON Formatter, CSS Minifier, Markdown Preview
- Encoders & Decoders β Base64, URL Encoder, HTML Encoder, JWT Decoder
- Generators β UUID, Password, Lorem Ipsum, Hash
- Converters β JSONβYAML, Color, Timestamp, Case Converter
- Testing β Regex Tester, Diff Checker
Our Articles
Beyond tools, we publish detailed technical articles on topics that web developers care about. Our articles aren't surface-level listicles β they're comprehensive guides with real code examples, benchmarks, and honest opinions. Topics include:
- Framework comparisons (Next.js vs Astro, Bun vs Node)
- Language features (TypeScript 5.5, Rust for JS devs)
- DevOps & tooling (Docker, GitHub Actions, Git)
- Performance optimization (Core Web Vitals, code splitting)
- AI-assisted development (Copilot, Cursor, Cody)
How We Write Articles
- Hands-on testing β We use every tool and framework we write about in real projects.
- Code-first approach β Every claim is backed by actual code examples you can copy and use.
- Benchmarks when relevant β We run our own performance tests, not just quote marketing pages.
- Regular updates β When a new version ships, we update our articles to reflect the changes.
Tech Stack
DevTools.day itself is built with:
- Astro β Static site generation with zero JavaScript by default
- Vanilla JavaScript β Tools use plain JS for instant interactivity
- AWS S3 + Cloudflare β Global CDN with edge caching
